The following entry, my first entry, is inspired by ColtonAndChristine’s video #29, which is what I was watching when I decided to writethis.
I like blogging. I haven’t done a lot of it. But when I firsttried my hand on it during STC, it occurred to me that, in general, it’s areally cool way to express yourself. It’s not like talking to someone, becauseyou can use text, and pictures and videos and quotes; and everything you mightever want to use is right there at your fingertips. If you know there’s aspecific quote that will emphasize your point, but you can’t remember it, itwill only take a few seconds to find it and use it.
It’s a form of expression that’s outside of time. You can do anything you wantwhen you’re creating it, and no-one is watching to witness your mistakes oryour false starts. You have the ultimate control. You can put together anyimage you’d like.
Anyway, I love ColtonAndChristine’s video blog project, and whenI first heard of it, I was like “Wow,I am so doing that when I go to college!” But then I realized thatI have no experience with video and that if I want to learn, it’s going to takesome time and effort. And then I realized that, in the meantime, I have a hellof a lot to say during my Senior year at Raleigh Charter. I want there to be arecord.
Guys, if you’re reading, something occurred to me the other day.One day, you’ll be able to look back at your video blog and know who you werein your freshman year of college. Like, there will actually be a record ofyou—not only what you think and say, but how you look, where you were, how youspent your time, how you talked to each other. What kind of people you werethat you would start a video blog and talk about the kind of things you talkabout in it.
I want that, too. So, here goes. This is my try at recordkeeping. I love film. I’m going to try my hand at it eventually. For now, this.
